Toothless

Yesterday Makenzi came running out of her bedroom (about an hour after we had put the kids in bed, but that's a different story)with a big smile on her face and blood on her jammie top and on both hands and said that Eli had just punched her in the mouth and made her tooth fall out. Then when I picked her up from school today, her other front tooth was just hanging on. She spent a good part of the evening wiggling it. No matter what it was going to come out tonight because it would be a huge distraction at school. Just after Spencer got home Kenzi came running into the kitchen with tooth in hand. She kept the tooth from yesterday so both of the teeth will be going under the pillow tonight!

Gavin 5 Months

Wow. I actually think that the past month went by a little bit slower than the first few months. Maybe it is because I'm getting more sleep so the days don't run together as much. Gavin is grabbing everything. The other morning I had him on my lap while eating a bowl of cereal, then all of the sudden my cereal was in my lap too. He didn't think that it was very funny.

40 Day Feast

Broccoli Abundance

Have you ever asked your husband to go to the store at 11pm so you can stay at home in your PJ's? One way that I know that he loves me is when he cheerfully goes and brings back everything on my list. (even if it's not perfect) (Spencer's edition)

Spencer saw that I was writing this post and he revised the above portion a little bit. So to make a long story short I sent him to the store to get a couple of things. One of the things that I asked him to get was broccoli. Before he headed out the door I went over the list with him to make sure that he knew exactly what I expected. (one of the things that the counselor told me that I needed to do a better job of) Also something that I have learned from past experience was that I needed to be specific. He had a question about the broccoli. Just how much broccoli? I wish that I could have scanned in the list so that you could see how specific I was. Well sweetheart, I need five stalks of broccoli. (A little number 5 was written next to the word broccoli on the list.) S: "Okay,five bundles?" M:"5 stalks. Not bundles." So awhile later he comes in the front door and I walk over a little perplexed as to why he has 5 bags full of groceries when there was merely 5 items total on the list. Something just didn't add up. My loving husband had purchased 5 rubber banded bundles of broccoli which equaled 2 whole bags full of broccoli. Talk about adding more fiber to your diet.... Needless to say we have more broccoli than I know what to do with. It seriously fills our refrigerator's vegetable drawer!

Merry Christmas to All

On Christmas eve we went over to our friends, Todd & Suzann's house for dinner and to reenact the nativity. We also did a fun thing called Christmas pie where everyone has a string that is attached to a present inside of one big present. Everyone pulls their string together and they come out of the big package at once.

When we got home the kids opened their Christmas jammies, then went outside to feed the reindeer special reindeer food (oats with glitter).

Then the kids hung the magical key for Santa to get into our house because we don't have a fireplace.

Eli woke up at 7:30, which is late for him. He ran into our room and said "Santa came! Santa came!" "Did you peek?" "Ummm." Then Spencer had to go get Kenzi out of bed but she was excited once she was fully awake. We ran into the family room and left Gavin sleeping soundly in his bed. It was a ton of fun seeing the kids react to what Santa left for them. It was probably the best reaction yet! We spent all morning opening presents and playing with all of the new toys.

In the afternoon we went and saw The Tales of Despereaux. When it got dark outside the kids got their jammies on and we drove around and looked at Christmas lights while sipping hot cocolate and listening to Christmas music.
